Students who do well in online courses and programs tend to possess the following characteristics. Please read through the list of characteristics. Do these describe you? If so, online learning may be a good choice for you. 

Successful online learners tend to:

• Choose online learning because career and/or life circumstances prevents them from attending traditional classes, not because they believe online courses are easier.
• Log into their online courses as often as needed to successfully complete the course, typically a minimum of once a day, often multiple times a day.
• Spend more time completing course requirements than they would spend for a comparable traditional, on campus course.
• Communicate effectively through email, discussion boards, and other electronic written communication mechanisms.
• Understand information when it is presented in writing.
• Proactively reach out for assistance when needed.
• Have a quiet location dedicated for studying.
• Routinely meet deadlines with minimal extrinsic motivators and employ effective organizational skills in essentially all aspects of their life.
• Be very comfortable working on computers.
