Creighton University economist Ernie Goss, who oversees the economic report, said August was the 21st month in a row that the index had come in above neutral growth. But, he said, the August reading was the lowest since December 2009 "and clearly indicates that regional growth is waning with an increasing likelihood of a recession."

Third-year arena is bearing fruit for Bluejays

One of the few new venues in the NCAA built specifically for women's volleyball and basketball, Sokol was touted as a facility that would help coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth's program attract top recruits, and it was anticipated that the arena would give CU an edge in its quest to make the NCAA tournament.
