Creighton Among 13 Area Companies to Receive Well Workplace Award
As part of its continuing effort to promote the importance of a healthy workplace, the Wellness Council of the Midlands (WELCOM) will honor 13 companies for their excellence in wellness programs in the workplace. Olympian Jean Racine Prahm, driver of the Women's U.S. Bobsled Team in Turin, Italy, will be the keynote speaker at the event, which will be held at the Qwest Center Omaha Junior Ballroom on Wednesday, April 26, at 11:30 a.m.
The businesses will be receiving the Well Workplace Award from the Wellness Councils of America for demonstrating outstanding efforts in addressing employee health in the workplace. Companies are able to achieve a Well Workplace Award at four levels: Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze. Creighton University will receive a Gold Award.
Howie Halperin, executive director for the Wellness Council of the Midlands, said: "These companies are building wellness programs that are not only impacting the bottom line but also the health and well being of their employees. There is nothing more important you can do for your organization."
Criteria for being selected as a Well Workplace has been established by the Wellness Councils of America, which is comprised of eight locally affiliated councils across the country.Through last year, more than 700 employers in the country, including 40 from the Omaha area, had been designated as Well Workplaces.
