Creighton Dean Receives Book Award

A book co-edited by Gail Jensen, Ph.D., Graduate School dean and associate vice president for faculty development at Creighton University, has earned a 2006 Alpha Sigma Nu Jesuit Book Award in the sciences.

The book, titled Educating for Moral Action, is a publication of the proceedings from a 2003 Leadership in Ethics Education Conference held at Creighton University. The text focuses on strategies to ultimately change how educators think and teach ethics to the next generation of health professionals.

Ruth Purtillo, Ph.D., and Charlotte Royeen, Ph.D., are co-editors. Creighton faculty Linda Frank, Ph.D.; Ivelisse Lazzarini, O.T.D; and Amy Haddad, Ph.D.; also contributed to the book.

The conference was funded by Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant # 1 D37 HP 00824-01 Dreamcatchers and the Common Good: Allied Health Leadership in Generational Health and Ethics.
