Two Honored for Service to the University

Elijah (Sonny) Golden and Bernadette Patrick were honored with the Distinguished Staff Service Award during Creighton University’s annual President’s Luncheon on Friday, Dec. 22.

Golden, who has been with Creighton for 38 years, was honored for his kindness and dedication to the animals he cares for in the Animal Care Facility and for the same dedication and kindness he shows his colleagues. His dedication helped the facility achieve recognition in its field - accreditation by the Association for Accreditation and Assessment of Laboratory Animal Care, in 2005.

Patrick, a senior medical assistant, has been helping Creighton patients since 1978, when Creighton established a North Omaha presence. Bernadette treats everyone equally at the Creighton Family Healthcare location in Florence, working with patients to make sure prescriptions are filled, complicated medical reports are understood as well as helping families complete forms for heating and cooling assistance. Her concern for her community extends to her work with the area’s homeless shelters, United Catholic Social Services, the YMCA and Boys and Girls Clubs.
