New Students Soar To Record Heights
Newly accepted students and their families will soar through Creighton University’s campus during the month of July to attend Summer Preview. Preview is a time for students and parents to become more acquainted with the University before move-in on Aug. 19.
A record number of students from all over the country, including New Jersey and Hawaii, will be landing on campus to attend one of the four preview dates. Students and parents have the option of attending a one-day preview or a two-day preview offering student panels, information booths, an ice cream social and speeches by University leadership and Creighton’s President the Rev. John P. Schegel, S.J.
Parents attend sessions that touch on subjects like campus living, technology, paying for college and student success. Students attending the one-day preview attend a student welcome, gather for Academics 101 and meet with their advisors about their class schedules. Those attending a two-day session attend the same sessions, but also experience residence hall life firsthand with a stay in Kiewit Hall and attend “A Day in the Life of a Creighton Student,” which allows students to go to mock classes and meet professors.
A new addition to this year’s summer preview is Blue View: Your Official CU Guide. Blue View is a book that features information about different departments on campus and items for new students. Another new addition is a session on the popular website Facebook and the opportunities and dangers it presents.
