Creighton Medical Students Recognized
Creighton University medical students Danielle Potter of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Kerry-Ann Williams of Houston, Texas, have been recognized for their academic achievements.
Potter, a second-year medical student, is one of 10 students nationally to earn an American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation’s 2006 Minority Scholars Award. The award includes a $10,000 scholarship.
Potter, community service chairperson for the Student National Medical Association, has volunteered at minority-bone-marrow drives in Omaha, labor-and-delivery classes in Hawaii, and health clinics in Cambodia and the Philippines. She spent her 2006 spring break at Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota, where she taught basic anatomy to students.
Williams, a third-year medical student, has received a University of Pittsburgh/Dr. Thomas Detre Senior Medical Student Award in Psychiatry. The award will allow her to create a customized, one-month clinical internship or research experience with a University of Pittsburgh faculty member.
