$5,000 Research Scholarship Awarded to Second-Year Pharmacy Student
Gowri Murthy of Princeton, Ind., a second-year pharmacy student at Creighton University, has received a 2006 Gateway to Research Scholarships valued at $5,000 from the American Foundation for Pharmaceutical Education.
Murthy’s research, titled “A Novel Mucoadhesive Gel Delivery System for Treatment of Breast Cancer,” will focus on preventive measures to stop the metastatic spread of breast cancer. Murthy hopes this delivery system is more effective and safer.
“Gwori is an extremely motivated individual who will be successful in research endeavors due to her easy-going personality and ability to get along well with others in a team environment,” said Alekha Dash, Ph.D., professor of pharmacy.
