Internationally known French "troubadour" folk-singer Jacques Yvart will perform a free concert at 7 p.m., Saturday, April 1, on the mainstage of Creighton University's Lied Education Center for the Arts, located at 24th and Cass streets. It is open to the general public.
This is the third Omaha appearance for Yvart, a remarkable French singer who is well known in the United States, having performed more than 20 concert tours on college and university campuses from coast to coast, as well as at Carnegie Hall.
Yvart will perform songs from his biggest-selling CDs, including Bonjour, La Paix (Hello Peace) and Citoyen du Monde (Citizen of the World), as well as new material from his latest work that sets poetry to music and features lyrics written by people with autism. CDs will be available for purchase following the concert.
The concert is co-sponsored by Creighton University, the University of Nebraska Omaha and the Omaha Alliance Franšaise ( Franšaise d'Omaha).
Omaha Alliance Franšaise was founded in 1917 and promotes French language and French culture though a variety of activities. The Alliance Franšaise d'Omaha appeals to both a French community longing to stay connected to their French culture and heritage and to individuals wanting to learn the French language and experience French culture.
