Creighton to Sponsor Jesuit Jubilee Presentation
2006 marks the 450th anniversary of the death of St. Ignatius Loyola and the 500th anniversary of the births of Peter Faber and Francis Xavier — the three Jesuits who started the Jesuit tradition.
To celebrate this landmark event, Creighton University is holding a Jesuit Jubilee presentation for students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the Society of Jesus on March 21 at 5 p.m. at V.J & Angela Skutt Student Center Ballroom.
World-famous author and St. Louis University theology professor Ron Modras, Ph.D., (right) will be the featured speaker. His talk will focus on his latest book, Ignatian Humanism.
Ignatian spirituality is a dynamic and ever-evolving practice that has great relevance in the 21st century. In Ignatian Humanism, Modras explains the importance of a 16th-century spirituality in a post-modern world and reveals the impact Renaissance humanism had on Ignatian spirituality and the Society of Jesus.
The event is being sponsored by Creighton University’s Kenefick Chair in the Humanities, the Collaborative Ministry Office, and the President’s Office.
