Sister Helen Prejean to Give Talk at Creighton University

Sister Helen Prejean, author of the national bestseller Dead Man Walking, will give a lecture titled : “Dead Man Walking: My Journey Continues,” at 7 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, on the Mainstage of Creighton’s Lied Education Center for the Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

Since the 1993 publication of her memoir Dead Man Walking and the Oscar winning film it inspired, Sister Prejean has become a powerful and presence in the fight against the death penalty in America. She continues her crusade against capital punishment with her second book The Death Of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account Of Wrongful Executions (http://www.deathofinnocents.com/) . The book provides a glimpse into her vocational journey as she tells the story of two men whom she accompanied to their execution though she provided substantial evidence of their innocence.

The lecture is sponsored by Cardoner at Creighton which began in January 2003 with funding from the Lilly Endowment, Inc. Cardoner provides the university community with opportunities to explore and reflect upon how faith, their personal lives, and their professional lives interrelate.
