Yakovlev to Speak at Science Lecture
Andrei Y. Yakovlev, M.D., Ph.D., D.Sc., will speak on “Virtues and Sins of Correlations in Microarray Data” on Dec. 6, noon-1 p.m., at the Creighton University Medical Center’s Morrison Seminar Room, 601 N. 30th St.
Yakovlev is professor and chair of the Department of Biostatics and Computational Biology at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, N.Y. He is author or co-author of four books and over 185 peer-reviewed papers in biomathematics and biostatistics.
His lecture will cover modern microarray data analysis, including various analysis pitfalls, and describe special types of stochastic dependence between gene-expression levels and their biological implications.
The free lecture is sponsored by the Creighton University School of Medicine, the Department of Internal Medicine, and the Continuing Medical Education Division. The School of Medicine has designated this presentation for a maximum of one AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
