Creighton University Observes Constitution Day
To commemorate Constitution Day, Creighton University will host A Conversation on the Constitution: Judicial Independence, at its School of Law Room 124 (Gross Appellate Courtroom) on Monday, September 18 from 4-5:30 p.m. Featured will be a panel discussion with leaders from the Student Bar Association and student chapters of the American Constitution Society and Federalist Society. A taped video presentation by members of the U.S. Supreme Court will also be included.
On Sept. 17, 1787, the U. S. Constitution was signed into history, creating a new paradigm by which this country would govern itself. Guaranteed by that Constitution, judicial independence is a hallmark of our system of government. Constitution Day is a time to reflect on what judicial independence means in our politicized environment and why it is so critical to maintain , said Professor of Law and Vice President for Academic Affairs Christine Wiseman.
