Children with Special Needs Focus of Sept. 28 Event

Children with special needs will be the focus of a Sept. 28 workshop at Omaha Public Schools’ Teacher Administrative Center (TAC), 3215 Cuming St.

Parents of children with disabilities, caregivers, and community-agency workers are encouraged to attend the free event, 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28.

The event, titled Third Annual Crumpets, Tea & More, will cover a wide range of subjects facing those caring for children with disabilities, including financial, medical, and educational issues. A special emphasis will be placed on underserved and economically challenged families.

Speakers, roundtable discussions and vendor booths will represent organizations such as Creighton University Medical Center Partnership in Health, University of Nebraska Medical Center, Ollie Webb Center, Parent Information Center, United Way 211, and Madonna School. Dinner and childcare will be provided at no cost.

Event co-sponsors include Creighton University Medical Center Partnership in Health, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Nebraska, and Omaha Urban Area Health Education Center.
