Denver Businesswoman to Receive Creighton Alumni Merit Award

Susan M. Dunn, president and chief executive officer of Donor Alliance in Denver, has earned the Creighton University School of Nursing’s 2007 Alumni Merit Award. She will receive the honor at the school’s May 3 graduating senior class reception.

The award is presented to nursing alumni for their dedication to Creighton, their profession and their community.

Dunn received a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Creighton in 1978. She also holds a Master’s of Business Administration from Regis University in Denver.

Dunn has been involved in the field of organ and tissue donation for 23 years. She joined Donor Alliance, an organ procurement organization and American Association of Tissue Banks-accredited tissue bank serving Colorado and most of Wyoming, in 1989. She has served as CEO since 2004.

Dunn also has held leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and the North American Transplant Coordinators Organization.

She has received numerous honors, including AOPA’s achievement and presidential awards in 1999 and 1996, the Colorado Kidney Foundation’s Health Advancement Award in 1991, and the National Kidney Foundation’s Trustees Award in 1990.

Dunn also served on Creighton’s Denver Alumni Advisory Board and was a nursing faculty member with Creighton’s Institute for Latin American Concern, a nonprofit, organization that helps American students and volunteer professionals provide free health care and other services in the Dominican Republic.
