Creighton University Prayer Service

Hundreds of Creighton University students, faculty and staff, as well as Omaha community members attended a Dec. 6 prayer service at St. John’s Church on the Creighton campus to reflect on the tragic shootings that took place at the Westroads shopping mall a day earlier. A procession that included candles, symbolizing each of the victims, introduced the ceremony.

Speakers spoke of the importance of helping others to heal, for forgiveness and for coming together as a community to mourn. Creighton’s ties to this tragedy are deep —three victims were brought to the Creighton University Medical Center. Two victims were alumni of the University, and several University staff members had relatives and loved ones affected by the incident.
