Chartrand Memorial Lecture on Pediatrics Slated for Feb. 16
Creighton University will hold the 10th annual Stephen A. Chartrand M.D. Memorial Seminar on “Practical Pediatrics: 2007 Update” on Friday, Feb. 16, at the Qwest Center Omaha, 455 N. 10th St.
Keynote speaker is Mary Anne Jackson, M.D., chief of pediatric infectious diseases at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Jackson, a nationally known expert on pediatric infectious diseases, will speak about the latest vaccine recommendations for American children.
Other topics to be covered include the latest developments in pediatrics, eye injuries in children, pediatric surgery and laboratory testing for the primary care physician, pain management in children, gastrointestinal medications in children, and long-term care needs for fragile children.
Chartrand, who died in April 2001, was chair of the Department of Pediatrics and professor of pediatrics and medical microbiology at the Creighton School of Medicine. He was also director of the combined Division of Pediatric Infectious Disease at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska School of Medicine.
Seminar sponsors include Creighton’s School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics, and Continuing Medical Education Division; Children’s Hospital, Ambassador Pediatrics, and Children’s Home Healthcare.
The registration cost is $145 for physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants; $95 for nurses and other health care professionals; and $55 for medical residents and full-time students in the health sciences.
