Summer Preview 2007

It’s only eight days after the Fourth of July, but incoming Creighton students and their families are already preparing to go back to school.

Summer Preview, which began July 10, is Creighton's summer orientation program that provides information and resources to new students and families during the summer months. With both one-day and two-day sessions, the program helps incoming students and their families prepare for the upcoming transition into the Creighton Community.

The program provides students with the opportunity to meet with their academic advisors, tour campus, enjoy an ice cream social and become more familiar with the departments on campus, such as Student Activities, Residence Life, Financial Aid, Food Services and Public Safety.  Summer Preview also includes a variety of activities for the parents.

Students attending the two-day Summer Preview sessions also participate in CU Immersion, a chance for them to experience a day in the life of a Creighton student.

“CU Immersion is our most unique program, which represents a day in the life of a Creighton student,” said Michele Starzyk, associate dean of students. “Students attend mini classes to get a taste of academic life, meet with some of the Jesuits, hear advice from recent graduates and learn about technology.”

People around campus will see many excited Jays-to-be taking advantage of this opportunity.

“This is a record attendance year for us,” Starzyk said. “Over four sessions, we are expecting more than 1,380 students and their families.”
