O達rien Named to Building Bright Futures

O達rien Named to Building Bright Futures

Richard O達rien, M.D., of the Creighton University Center for Health Policy and Ethics has been named to  Building Bright Futures, an Omaha community-wide initiative to support low-income children from birth through college.

O達rien will serve as vice chair of the 鄭ddressing Adolescent Behavioral Health Task Force. 

Building Bright Futures has a total of six task forces focusing on:

Making the most of early childhood.
Providing academic support and career awareness.
After-school mentoring and tutoring for excellence.
Reducing truancy and recovering lost youth.
Addressing adolescent behavioral health.
Financing higher education.

O'Brien has been a member of the Center for Health Policy and Ethics since 1999. Prior to that he was dean of the Creighton University School of Medicine from 1982-1992 and vice president for Health Sciences from 1984-1999.

He came to Creighton from the University of Southern California where he was a faculty member from 1966-1982, holding the rank of professor and, at the time of his leaving, served as director of the Kenneth Norris Jr. Cancer Center and Research Hospital.

Building Bright Futures will be developing partnerships with many other community non-profits and educational initiatives.
