Diversity Summit Breakfast Attracts Community and Business Leaders

More than 40 business and community leaders attended the May 8 breakfast hosted by Creighton University President the Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., held in conjunction with the 2007 Diversity Summit hosted by Creighton University.

The keynote speaker for the annual breakfast was Sondra Thiederman, Ph.D., president of the San Diego-based training firm Cross-Cultural Communications. Thiederman is one of the nation’s leading experts on workplace diversity, cross-cultural business, and bias reduction.

The theme for this year’s Diversity Summit was “Walking the Walk II.” Thiederman and Mauricio Velasquez of the Diversity Training Group were among the featured speakers at the day-long event. The summit was sponsored by Organizations for Community Inclusions, Inc. (OCI), a non-profit comprised of voluntary members from local businesses, agencies and civic groups working to improve race relations in Omaha since 1995.
