All Nations Pow Wow at Creighton

The fourth annual All Nations Pow Wow will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, 2008, in the Kiewit Fitness Center on the Creighton University campus. The event is free and is open to the public.

The grand entrances, which are the large dance performances, are scheduled at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The Pow Wow will include authentic Native American dancing and booths of Native American Arts and crafts for sale.

While many attending the event will be from Omaha, dancers and drummers from all over the nation are expected to attend. The Creighton Native American Association expects as many as 3,000 attendees this year.

A list of Host Drums can be found at:

Included in the program for the Pow Wow are a variety of dances to live music, including: the men’s Grass Dance, the women’s Jingle Dress and Shell dances, and the Potato Dance at 9:00 p.m., which is an opportunity for everyone to learn and participate in a dance.

The All Nations Pow Wow is organized by the Native American students at Creighton University and is sponsored in conjunction with Creighton’s 12th Annual Native American Retreat, which brings Native American high school students from across the country to campus to show that attending college is possible for them.

Creighton University is a Jesuit, Catholic university bridging health, law, business and the arts and sciences for a more just world.
