The line was a little longer outside Creighton University’s residence halls on Saturday, Aug. 23. That’s when Creighton’s second largest class in 30 years began moving into campus residence halls.

This year’s class of 987, is two short of the record enrollment set in 1979. For the past six years, Creighton University has admitted its strongest academic classes ever, and this year’s freshman class is no exception. More than 25 percent were in the top five percent of their graduating classes, and 85 percent were involved in a service or church organization. The 2008 freshman class has an academic profile that places it among the top five private universities in the Midwest with enrollments of at least 4,000 undergraduates.

The Creighton University selection process takes into account applicants’ leadership and service abilities, interests, and most importantly, academic performance in high school. The University also places a strong weight on students’ demonstrated intellect and academic and professional goals.
