Creighton Staffer Receives 2008 Distinguished Service Award

Sondra Spaulding, Creighton University Pediatric Infectious Disease lead coordinator, has been named 2008 Distinguished Staff Service Award recipient. The honor, the University’s principal staff recognition, is given at the annual staff luncheon Dec. 23 to an individual who has brought distinction to the University in a special way.

Spaulding, a 17-year employee of the University, is responsible for coordinating clinic research studies, primarily involving childhood vaccines. Some of her colleagues have called her a “quiet warrior in the battle against diseases.” She also has organized health care serves for newly immigrated Sudanese families, including dispensing of tuberculosis medication, clothing and food collections and much more.

“Sandy is an extraordinary individual who is patient and caring while keeping her staff motivated to do their best to make these research efforts. She is a team player who goes above and beyond the call of duty,” said Archana Chatterjee, M. D., Ph.D., chief, Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
