Creighton University Listed in Top College Publication
Princeton Review, Inc., has listed Creighton University as one of the nation’s top 368 colleges and universities in its 2009 edition of the annual college guide published July 28.
The review features comments from more than 120,000 students and a two-page profile on each school. Students say that Creighton “is about combining a strong academic education with an education of the whole person: service, faith, and justice.” Regardless of one’s major, students experience, “a heavy liberal arts focus, relatively small classes and generally very good teachers.” Undergrads also benefit from “lots of study abroad programs, internships, and extracurriculars.”
Creighton’s ratings for its academic quality, admissions selectivity, quality of financial aid and fire safety all improved. Creighton’s 2008-2009 freshmen class profile places the University in the top 5 for private Midwestern universities and in the top 50 for private universities in the nation.
New this year is a Green Rating based on the schools’ environmentally-related practices, policies and course offerings. Creighton received a rating of 89 out of 99.
“Students have been a driving force behind the greening efforts at Creighton and we are pleased that we are being acknowledged for our early progress,” said the Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., Creighton University president.
Only about 15 percent of the more than 3,500 colleges and universities nationwide plus two Canadian colleges were chosen for the book.
