The Moral Imagination: Finding Our Way Beyond Violence Title of Werner Lecture
John Paul Lederach, Ph.D., will present this year’s Werner Lecture, “The Moral Imagination: Finding Our Way Beyond Violence,” at 5 p.m. March 27, 2008, at the Creighton University School of Law room 124.
Lederach is Professor of International Peacebuilding at the Kroc Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, and Distinguished Scholar at Eastern Mennonite University, where he founded the Conflict Transformation Program, Lederach is internationally recognized for his pioneering work in conciliation, mediation and peacebuilding.
He has been involved in consultation and conciliation in situations from Nicaragua in the 1980s to Somalia, Northern Ireland, Colombia, the Basque Country, and the Philippines in the 1990s, to more recent involvement in Tajikistan, Nepal, Africa and elsewhere. His most recent book, The Moral Imagination: The Art and Soul of Building Peace, is one of the most widely known works in the study of peacebuilding.
