John H. Garvey, dean of Boston College Law School, and the 106th president of the American Association of Law Schools (AALS), will address the Creighton community on the subject of academic freedom from the perspective of a modern, Catholic university.

His talk is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2008, in the School of Law Gross Appellate Courtroom. A question and answer period will follow. Participants are invited to a reception in the Schneider Commons following the presentation.

This speaking engagement is sponsored by the Office of the President, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the School of Law. It is not open to the general public.

Garvey’s talk will be videotaped for internal purposes. Faculty and staff who are unable to attend will have an opportunity to view at a later date during special viewing sessions.

Creighton University is a Jesuit, Catholic university bridging health, law, business and the arts and sciences for a more just world.
