“God: Reflections Theological and Philosophical” to be Explored

The Kripke Center for the Study of Religion and Society and the Department of Philosophy at Creighton University will hold a panel presentation on Thursday, Oct. 30, on “God: Reflections Theological and Philosophical.”

The free presentation begins at 7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Mike and Josie Harper Center for Student Life and Learning on the Creighton campus. The panel discussion will be held in advance of the American Catholic Philosophical Association’s (ACPA) 82nd annual meeting in Omaha, Oct. 31-Nov. 2; Creighton is hosting the annual meeting.

John W. Carlson, Ph.D., Creighton chair of philosophy, will moderate a panel of three prestigious scholars, including Russell Reno, Creighton professor of theology; John Milbank, professor of religion, politics and ethics at University of Nottingham in England; and ACPA President William Desmond, who holds faculty appointments at Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven, Belgium, and Villanova University. Milbank is a prime mover in the postmodern Christian theological movement known as “Radical Orthodoxy.”
