Creighton Magis Clinic Holds Fourth Annual Golf Classic
Creighton University School of Medicine will hold its fourth annual Magis Golf Classic on Friday, Sept. 12, at Ironwood Golf and Country Club, 12627 Pacific St.
Tournament proceeds will support the medical school’s Magis Clinic. The outpatient clinic, organized in 2004 by Creighton medical students, offers free, walk-in health services on Saturdays to Omaha’s homeless, uninsured and underinsured.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. with registration, followed by a four-person scramble, Shotgun Start at 8:30 a.m. Registration is $125 per player and includes green fee, Nike golf shirt, continental breakfast, boxed lunch, flag prizes, putting contest, cart and tournament favors. To register or for more information, call the Creighton University Alumni Relations Office at (402) 280-2222 or visit www.creighton.edu/alumni.
Tournament cosponsors include Creighton University Medical Center and RDG Planning and Design.
Last year’s tournament raised more than $40,000.
The Magis Free Clinic, located at the Siena Francis House, works with other organizations to provide acute care and follow-up, physical exams, lab tests, medications, specialty clinics and referrals. Medical students and physicians volunteer at the clinic, seeing about 15 patients each Saturday. A clinic which tests for pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases is held the first and third Monday of each month.
