John Yee Named Creighton University Biomedical Sciences Chair
John (Jack) Yee, Ph.D., has been named chair of the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Creighton University School of Medicine, effective May 1.
Yee, who joined Creighton in 1990 as a professor of biomedical sciences and head of the former Division of Anatomy, is a well-respected teacher and researcher. Specializing in the study of bone biology, he is the author or co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles and three book chapters on the subject.
He has earned a Golden Apple Teaching Award, awarded annually by the Creighton University Medical Student Association, in 2008 and on four other occasions. The Creighton University medical faculty has also honored Yee with its Distinguished Teacher Award.
Yee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology (1970) and a Doctor of Philosophy in anatomy (1974) from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Prior to joining Creighton, he held an academic appointment at Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas.
Yee succeeds Richard (Barry) Murphy, Ph.D., who is retiring after 20 years as chair of biomedical sciences at Creighton University.
