Creighton Tornado Drill Tests Preparedness

Creighton University will hold a campus-wide tornado awareness drill on Wednesday, April 8, at 10:10 a.m. in conjunction with Severe Weather Awareness Week. Douglas County sirens will be activated and a CUAlert, a message from the University’s emergency notification system, will be issued to communicate a test tornado warning. Students, faculty and staff will take appropriate action, including going to the nearest shelter area.

Campus community members have received information on what to do if a tornado occurs. The University Crisis Committee has also created an emergency preparedness website that provides information and resources for emergency situations.

The entire exercise is intended to last about 10 minutes. The hospital, medical and dental clinics will not participate because they already have their own emergency drills in place.
