Benson Health Center to Expand Services on March 2

Benson neighborhood residents will have increased health care options beginning March 2 as a result of a new initiative between Charles Drew Health Center, Inc., and Creighton University.

“We are excited to enter this collaboration with Charles Drew,” said Syed Mohiuddin, M.D., chair of medicine for Creighton University School of Medicine. “It will mean expanded primary care services for the entire family.”

Gregory Ochuba, M.D., Charles Drew Health Center medical director, said, “Charles Drew Health Center is pleased to partner with Creighton University in this collaborative venture. The health and well-being of our community is our first priority. The addition of primary health care at the Benson Community Health Center offers health care services that are both affordable and accessible for the surrounding community, businesses, small business owners, parents, and students.”

Beginning March 2, Charles Drew physicians Monique Tolston, M.D., and Lucille Woodard, M.D., will see patients Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at 5420 N.W. Radial Highway. Additional services available including back-to-school physicals and immunizations for children. For families without insurance, a social worker is available to determine eligibility for a sliding‐fee program.

Creighton staff will continue to offer onsite community education and health screening programs (cholesterol, blood pressure and glucose), HIV/STI testing ,and clinical outreach opportunities designed to help patients address chronic health issues.

The name of the facility will also change from Creighton Community Health Center to Benson Community Health Center. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 402.558.9242.
