Two Honored with Mary Lucretia and Sarah Emily Creighton Awards
Tricia McSorley, third-year law student, and Rose Hill, assistant dean for administration and finance in the College of Arts and Sciences, will receive the 2009 Mary Lucretia & Sarah Emily Creighton Awards during Creighton University’s annual Founder’s Week luncheon at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Harper Center Ballroom.
McSorley, wife and mother of three, excels at her studies while battling a three-generation cancer gene. She is vice president of the Creighton Student Bar Association and an active member of the Women’s Law Student Association and Creighton Law Ambassadors. She also volunteers with Race for the Cure and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
For Hill, the award is a reflection of her care and support for her co-workers and friends. She is very visible on campus supporting faculty, staff and students by attending lectures, plays and various University functions.
The All University Committee on the Status of Women presents the Mary Lucretia and Sarah Emily Creighton Awards every year during Founder’s Week to persons associated with Creighton University. Recipients must create an environment that supports women’s achievements; serve as role models for accomplishments for women; and encourage women faculty, administrators, staff or students in the development and use of their talents.
