Creighton Seminar Explores Major Changes to Americans with Disabilities Act

Major changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which took effect Jan. 1, 2009, will be the focus of a Wednesday, March 18, symposium sponsored by the ADA Committee at Creighton University.

The 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. event will be held in the V.J. and Angela Skutt Student Center’s Mutual of Omaha Ballroom and is open to the Creighton community at no cost. Registration is not required, however individuals who register by March 16 will receive a light lunch.

Titled “ADA Amendments Act … and Beyond,” the symposium will look at changes to the Americans with Disabilities Act and what they mean to Creighton faculty, staff and students. The changes offer greater protection for persons with disabilities and significantly broaden the scope of what constitutes a disability.

To register, call or e-mail Deb McAtee at 280.2792 or dmcatee@creighton.edu.
