Thanksgiving Dinner Benefits Precious Memories Daycare Center

Some of the 60 students in Creighton Universityís Freshman Leadership Program (FLP) spent Friday, Nov. 20 carving more than 200 pounds of turkey, mashing 120 pounds of potatoes, mixing 10 gallons of gravy and preparing 400 rolls for the annual Precious Memories Thanksgiving Dinner fundraiser.

About 185 people are expected for the sold-out dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in Lower St. Johnís. More information about the event can be found at http://web.me.com/stevenmichael18/Site_2/home.html.

The sale of tickets for this yearís event raised a total of $1,850, which will be used to buy a swingset for the daycare center. In past years the FLP students have raised enough money for the daycare center to help purchase a mini-van, car seats, and lunch tables.

Precious Memories, located at 25th and Leavenworth, is a non-profit organization that serves roughly 100 children in the summer and 60 children in the fall, spring and winter when school is in session.
