Creighton Mock Trial Team Are National Semifinalists

Creighton Mock Trial Team Are National Semifinalists

Creighton University’s Mock Trial team participated in the Quinnipiac University Criminal Justice Trial Advocacy Competition the weekend of Oct 30-Nov. 1 and finished as national semifinalists. The third-year law student members on the team are Molly Blazek, Elkhorn, Neb.; Patrick Lee, Omaha, Neb.; Andrew Portis, Mason City, Iowa and Emily Wiechmann, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Emily Wiechmann also won the individual award for the best opening statement. The team was coached by adjunct professors Teri Koller and Allen Tate.

The competition was designed to meld the theoretical components of legal training with the skills training students receive in law school.

Among the law schools participating this year were: Creighton University School of Law, University of Denver Strum College of Law, Fordham University School of Law, Georgia State College of Law, Georgetown University Law Center, The George Washington University Law School, Loyola University College of Law, New Orleans, and Quinnipiac University School of Law.
