Creighton University to Host International Conference

Creighton University will host a two-day, international conference on “Nation Within Nations: Living Dialogues on Governance and Cultures” on Monday, Nov. 2 ( 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. ), and Tuesday, Nov. 3 ( 9 a.m.-3 p.m. ).

The conference will be held at the Mike and Josie Harper Center for Student Life and Learning, 620 N. 20 St. Event sponsors include Creighton University’s College of Arts & Sciences, Native American Studies Program, School of Law, and College of Business Administration.

The conference will compare the struggles of the Native Americans for sovereignty  to those of indigenous populations around the globe, including the Kurdish area of Iraq, Nagaland in India, the Karin region of Myanmar, the Basque region of Spain, and various areas in the United States.

Leading educators and practitioners, including Adae Deer of Wisconsin’s Menominee tribe, will present their research and experience on cultures and governance.
