Creighton Director Honored by Student Professional Administrators Group

Joe Ecklund, director, Office of Student Services at Creighton University, has been chosen as the outstanding Mid-Level Professional of the Year by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) Region IV-West. At Creighton Ecklund was instrumental in establishing the Office of Student Success in 2007, the office coordinating numerous educational services, including peer-to-peer education, alcohol education, peer academic leader training, Welcome Week, establishing additional tutoring resources, study skill workshops, academic success counseling and several other student success-related programs.

NASPA is the leading voice for student affairs administration, policy and practice and affirms the commitment of student affairs to educating the whole student and integrating student life and learning. Region IV-West represents an eight-state region that includes one Canadian province.

Ecklund has held various residence life and student affairs programming leadership positions at Marquette University, Wichita State University and University of Toledo before coming to Creighton. He will receive his award at in November at the regional conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He also becomes the regional nominee for the national award to be given in March 2010.
