Omaha Doctor Allen Dvorak Honored by Creighton School of Medicine
Allen D. Dvorak, M.D., a 1969 graduate of the Creighton University School of Medicine, will be honored Sept. 11 with the school’s 2009 alumni merit award. The award will be presented during the annual School of Medicine Alumni Reception and Dinner, held in conjunction with the school’s Destination Creighton Reunion Weekend.
Dvorak, a diagnostic radiologist, grew up in Howells, Neb. He was a fulltime faculty member in the Department of Radiology at Creighton University, 1973-83, serving as associate chair of radiology for two years. He left the University to pursue private practice at various community hospitals.
Dvorak has held a special interest in health care planning for more than 35 years. He has served on the Nebraska Board of Health, the Health Planning Council of the Midlands and many other organizations concerned with equal access to quality and affordable health care. He is a past president of the Nebraska Medical Association and the Metro Omaha Medical Society.
He also has been active as a community volunteer, serving such organizations as the Archdiocese of Omaha, Boys Town, Christ the King Catholic Church and Creighton University School of Medicine. He is a member of the School of Medicine’s Alumni Advisory Board.
The Alumni Merit Award is one of the highest honors given by Creighton’s schools and colleges. A great respect for and involvement in faith, family community and University are hallmarks of individuals who receive this award.
