CU Partnership to Hold 11th Annual Youth Health Extravaganza
A Youth Health Extravaganza, sponsored by Creighton University Medical Center Partnership In Health, will offer free back-to-school physicals to underserved and economically challenged families on Saturday, Sept. 26.
The 11th annual event will be held at the Omaha Public Schools’ Teacher Administrative Center, 3215 Cuming St. Doors are open to participants, 8 a.m.-11 a.m., and services will be provided until the last participant has been served.
The event will offer children from kindergarten through 12th grade free school physical and dental exams, immunization-card reviews and referrals, when appropriate, as well as screenings for asthma, blood pressure, hearing, height/weight, hemoglobin, lead and vision.
In addition, there will be:
- Roundtable discussions on nutrition/obesity, asthma, and tobacco prevention/smoking cessation, services for children with disabilities and other timely topics
- Family-focused activities such as clowns, face painting and balloons
- Bilingual documents and interpreters (Spanish and Sudanese)
Parents or guardians must accompany students to the event and bring copies of the children’s immunization records with them. The Youth Health Extravaganza is a community collaboration for the health, education and well being of metro children.
