Theologian and author John Haught will speak on “Faith, Science and the New Atheism” during a Thursday, Sept. 24, lecture at Creighton University.

The lecture, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Rigge Science Building lecture hall (room 120) is free to the public. A question/answer session will follow Haught’s presentation.

Haught, a senior research fellow at Woodstock Theological Center at Georgetown University, is the author of several books on the creation-evolution controversy. He argues that classical religious teachings about God are compatible with the science of evolution.

His books include “God and the New Atheism: A Critical Response to Dawkins, Harris and Hitchens,” “The Prospect for Religion in the Age of Evolution,” and the forthcoming “Making Sense of Evolution: Darwin, God and the Drama of Life.”

Haught’s lecture is cosponsored by Creighton’s Graff Chair in Catholic Theological Studies and the University’s Science and Religion Dialogue Project, funded by a John Templeton Foundation grant. Parking is available at several locations, including lots at 24th and Cass streets and 27th and Burt streets.
