Donor Honors Creighton Dental Faculty Member with Scholarships

Twenty years ago, Adam Diasti formulated the concept for a full service dental services company while studying dentistry at Creighton University. Helping him to succeed as a student was mentor and faculty member Frank Ayers, D.D.S., current associate dean for student affairs, director of admissions and associate professor of pediatric dentistry in the School of Dentistry.

Today, alumnus Adam Diasti, D.D.S. and his wife Chrischelle have donated funds to provide scholarships to dental students in Ayers’ name. A 1990 graduate of Creighton University, Diasti is the president of Coast Dental Services, Inc., the leading provider of dental services in the Southeast, with nearly 120 dental practices in Florida and Georgia.

“Creighton is blessed to have alumni and friends like the Diastis who understand the vision of the University and its commitment to students,” said the Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., president. “But it is especially significant when alumni honor a faculty member who had profound impact on their educational experience.”

The annual scholarships will provide financial support to worthy students in the School of Dentistry.

“Dr. Ayers was always there for students in good times as well as challenging moments. I owe much of my successful career to him. Chrischelle and I feel privileged to be able to help students attend Creighton University School of Dentistry for the most rewarding experiences of their lives,” said Diasti.

Ayers, who will retire from Creighton’s School of Dentistry this spring after 38 years, recently received the University’s Distinguished Faculty Service Award. Students have also honored him by establishing the Dr. Frank J. Ayers Spirit of Creighton Award. Dr Ayers received the inaugural award and this award is now presented annually by the graduating class to a deserving faculty member.
