The play is adapted from the 1782 Pierre Choderlos de Laclos novel of the same title by Christopher Hampton. The plot focuses on the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont. Their targets are the virtuous (and married) Madame de Tourvel and CÚcile de Volanges, a young girl who has fallen in love with her music tutor, the Chevalier Danceny. In order to gain their trust, Merteuil and Valmont pretend to help the secret lovers so they can use them later in their own treacherous schemes.
It is directed by Moira Mangiamanelli who has been active as both a performer and director in the Omaha area for the last 20 years, with a 3 year stint in Florida in between. She most recently received the Omaha Entertainment and Arts Award for Best Actress for her role in The Goat.
