Creighton Staffer Receives 2009 Distinguished Service Award

Sandy Murnan, Creighton University School of Law Registrar, has been named the recipient of the 2009 Distinguished Staff Service Award. The honor, the University’s principal staff recognition, is given at the annual staff luncheon Jan 6 to an individual who has brought distinction to the University in a special way.

Murnan, a 33-year employee of Creighton, is responsible for helping law students through registration, ongoing grade and academic record keeping, student certification and correspondence issues and much more. During her tenure, she has been instrumental in digitizing and converting records and materials to computer and has served as an institutional resource on academic and student issues. Her nomination was signed by all law school faculty members who recognized her meticulous attention to detail while “treating every student as an individual.”

“Sandy is one of those unique individuals who brings the same compassion and commitment to her personal and community life as she does her work,” said Patrick J. Borchers, J.D., vice president for academic affairs and law school dean from 1999 to 2007.
