Creighton Appoints Director of Admissions and Scholarships

William L. (Billy) Pierce has been named director of admissions and scholarships for Creighton University. Pierce most recently served as director of Admissions Technology and Diversity Coordinator at the University of Toledo. He has more than 10 years of admissions and enrollment management experience, highlighted by record-setting freshman class enrollments, with increasing numbers of diverse students, and the application of technologies, analysis, training and other improvements to the admissions process. He starts at Creighton on Aug. 23.

“Billy brings to our Creighton team a tenacious, competitive and visionary spirit coupled with outstanding analytic skills and admissions management expertise. He is at the forefront of his field, and is known nationally as a savvy professional and a deeply committed humanitarian,” said Mary E. Chase, associate vice president for Enrollment Management.

Pierce presents at numerous higher education national, regional and local forums and conferences. He currently serves as president of the Council of Admission Officers for Ohio’s public four-year universities, is a member of the National Achievement Scholarship Selection Committee, the Rotary Club of Reynolds Corners, the University of Toledo President’s Council on Diversity and many other professional organizations. He also served as an advisor and mentor to the University’s chapter of the Student African-American Brotherhood and the football program.

He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Administrative Services from the University of Toledo.

As director of admissions and scholarship, he will supervise a team of 25 who work with students, faculty and staff to attract and retain the University’s student body.
