Creighton Athletics Scores with NCAA Academic Performance Report

Creighton University student-athletes are excelling in the classroom as well as on the field, court or course, according to the Division I Academic Performance Program (APP) Report, released today by the NCAA. This recognition honors Division I sports teams that posted multiyear Academic Progress Rates (APRs) in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport. Creighton is one of only 73 universities and colleges having four of more squads recognized.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention and graduation and provides a measure of each team's academic performance.

Creighton men’s golf and women’s volleyball, women’s cross country and women’s golf were recognized. Creighton is among 234 Division I universities and colleges on the list. The recognition is part of a broad Division I academic reform effort.

Some key facts about Creighton University’s athletic teams include:

  • Creighton student-athletes owned a 3.31 GPA as a whole in the fall of 2009 including an athletic department best 3.62 GPA by the women’s cross country team.
