Creighton University’s Asian World Center will host its seventh annual Asian Culture Week April 25-29.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Sustaining Changes in Asia.” While some of the programs reflect continuing concerns over environment-related crises and Asian attitudes towards attaining a green earth, the event also responds to the emerging issues in the Middle East and on-going nation-building efforts in Afghanistan.
The week-long event includes an art exhibit, guest lectures, roundtable discussions and the viewing of a documentary film. All of the events are free to the public.
Two lectures will highlight the week-long series of events.
A keynote presentation, "Afghanistan: Stories on the Role of Nebraska National Guard” will be presented by Major General Judd Lyons, Adjutant General, Nebraska State National Guard, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, on the Main Stage of the Lied Education Center for the Arts located at 24th and Cass Streets.
On Thursday, April 28 from 12:30 pm to 1:30 p.m., the Asian World Center Distinguished Guest Presentation "Change in the Air: What is Next in the Middle East and Beyond" will be presented by Dr. Ayman El-Mohandes, dean of the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
