The Creighton University Speech and Debate Team placed first in Team Sweepstakes at the Sleet and Snow Swing Tournament held at Concordia University Jan. 14-16.
Students competing at Concordia included: Nick Tanner, junior; Landon Ross, junior; Tiffanesha Williams, junior; Jessa Newby, freshman; Nathan VanWinkle, freshman; Westin Miller, sophomore; and Sarah Wolnisty, freshman.
Results of Parliamentary Debate were Tanner, third place; Ross, second place; and first overall, Tanner.
Results for Lincoln Douglas Debate were Williams, second place, and Tanner, first-place speaker and first-place overall.
Sleet individual results were:
- Wolnisty, second in Extemporaneous Speaking and sixth in Informative Speaking.
- Miller, fourth in Prose Interpretation; seventh in Rhetorical Criticism and fourth in Impromptu Speaking.
Snow individual results were:
- Wolnisty, third in Extemporaneous Speaking and first in Persuasive Speaking.
- Miller, first in Impromptu Speaking; fourth in Rhetorical Criticism, and third in Individual Sweepstakes.
