“Why Care for the Earth? Ten Good Reasons,” is the topic of Creighton University’s second annual Religion and the Environment Lecture at 4 p.m., Thursday, Sept 22, in the Skutt Student Center Ballroom. The lecture is free to the public.
Steven Bouma-Prediger, professor of religion and director of the environmental studies program at Hope College, will present the lecture.
He has written and edited several award-winning books concerning ecology and theology, including For the Beauty of the Earth, Evocations of Grace: Writings on Ecology, Theology, and Ethics, and The Greening of Theology: The Ecological Models of Rosemary Radford Ruether, Joseph Sittler, and Jurgen Moltmann.
Bouma-Prediger regularly leads wilderness backpacking and canoeing trips in the Adirondacks in upstate New York for an ecology theology and ethics course that he co-teaches.
