“Re-Describing Earliest Christianity as a Religion of Independent Specialists,” is the title of the Creighton University Kripke Center for the Study of Religion & Society lecture at 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 5, in room 104 of the Skutt Student Center.
Heidi Wendt, who will present the lecture, is a Ph.D. candidate in religious studies at Brown University. She specializes in Roman religion and earliest Christianity. She is currently working on a dissertation, assembling evidence for entrepreneurial religion at Rome in the early imperial period.
In her lecture Wendt will place the letters of Paul in the context of entrepreneurial religion, with a view to broader patterns of independent specialist activity.
