Creighton Students Win Awards at National Undergraduate Research Conference

Creighton University students Brent Bruck, Shweta Goswami and Zoran Pavlovic were awarded top honors at the West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Conference on April 20 in San Diego, Calif.

Six Creighton students presented at the conference along with more than 400 other undergraduates from 60 institutions throughout the country. The event is the oldest, intercollegiate conference of its kind in the nation.

Goswami and Pavlovic, biochemistry majors working with Julie Soukup, Ph.D., won best oral presentation for their co-authored paper, “Evolutionary Conservation of a Mammalian Riboswitch.”

Bruck, a chemistry and biology double major working with James Fletcher, Ph.D., won best poster presentation for his project, ”Dicarboxylated Ethynylarenes as Fluorescent Chemsensors for Polyamines.”

All three students are graduating seniors in Creighton University’s Honors program
